The most misunderstood meal of the day. Some deify it and some are indifferent. For some, it seems to be the reason why they do not get fat, and maybe for others for this they get fat. Why do you say that there is so much grief for just one small meal, petit dejeuner as the French say? Why did we get to the point of constantly dealing with something so small in our daily lives? Countless people eat breakfast and it is fine and some who skip it and feel the same. In some people, it exists in their diet, and in others not with the entity we give it nowadays. In English, it is called breakfast because it is the first meal after the night fast. So let’s ask our questions and then the answers and then you can decide for yourself which one is right for you. 🥐
Does the term include breakfast or should we take the English breakfast, or even the French petit dejeuner at a specific time when the meal should be eaten? I think not. It depends on the pace of each person and his daily life. The one who wakes up late will eat his breakfast maybe at 11. So this idea of sticking to breakfast at a certain time as soon as we wake up may not be right. Because not every person wakes up at the same time, is not hungry at the same time, and does not always have the opportunity to eat at the same time. Even our body in terms of hormones follows a biological clock that determines that we are not necessarily hungry as soon as we wake up. At that time the various hormones such as adrenaline, and cortisol are high and this means high blood sugar, so the feeling of hunger in most people does not exist at 7 to 8 in the morning. What does this mean for us? Do we sit down and eat a rich breakfast even if we are not hungry or would it be better to leave it for later when we feel hungry? 🕖
Do we have the time in our daily life and so early in the morning to eat a homemade healthy breakfast or do we end up eating all the ready cereals or health bars or muesli that are advertised as a necessary start with what will open our eyes? In the children’s diet, breakfast cereals come in order, immediately after sweets such as chocolates, cookies, and soft drinks for their high sugar content. Some of them contain up to 50% sugar. If we have to choose whether our child will eat such a breakfast due to lack of time, would it be better not to eat and drink only his milk? 🥣
Is it right to force our body to take a meal that it is not looking for? For people who have eaten the previous day early and wake up at 7 or 8 in the morning with a great feeling of hunger, I do not think anyone doubts that it would be right to eat because their body craves it. But for all the others who may have eaten late or are not hungry, is it right to force them to have a meal so early in the morning that their body shouts that it does not need it, that it is simply not hungry? The myth that this keeps our blood sugar stable I hope you all know does not apply to healthy people. It is an insult to our body if we believe that. Our body can keep its sugar constant even if you do not eat for a whole day. This only does not apply if you are diabetic. You have often had hypoglycemia if you do not eat for more than 6 hours or even for a whole day. In the literature, in 1973, an extreme experiment is reported, with an overweight patient, who was under medical treatment for 382 days and did not receive food and from 207 kg reached 82, without, as they report, any changes in electrolytes and sugar. They were taking only one vitamin supplement. 📚
Our opinion. Make breakfast as we have defined it nowadays (as soon as we wake up) optional, only if you are hungry or if you have a health problem and are taking some medications (in this case, before changing anything in your diet, be sure to take your doctor’s advice). Breakfast is a very important meal – it can either make or break your day. We do not need to do the most important thing. Eat it when your body says you need it. At 8 at 10 at 11 even at 1pm. You only listen to your body, not everyone else. 🕰️
