It is often underestimated how many calories we can get by taking various drinks such as soft drinks, cola or other lemonades. They often contain about 50 calories per 100 millilitres. So if you drink a bottle of lemonade (1.5 litres) during the day, you will consume about 700 calories. Instead you could eat a full meal. The same goes for fruit juices and smoothies. While these drinks are considered healthy, many are high in fructose and have the same calorie content as soft drinks. Keep in mind that liquid calories don’t give you a feeling of satiety, so it’s best to eat filling, high-quality foods.
