Patients with Covid 19 infection create antibodies according to studies and we know this for sure and from our experience so far with other coronavirus in the past. But it is not yet clear how long the immunity to this particular coronavirus will last. For previous coronaviruses, we know that some have shown a period of immunity of even a few years. According to the well-known virologist Christian Drosten from the Charité in Berlin, once the patient has overcome the infection, he will probably have immunity for at least as long as the duration of this pandemic, and possibly beyond that. Therefore, anyone who was sick with Covid 19 is no longer at risk of contracting it again so quickly. However, due to the fact that we are never sure because of the mutations of the virus it is still good to use our protective measures such as a mask and good hand washing.
